Let’s Talk About Health!

Hey there friend! How are you today? Really...how are you? Wherever the day has taken you so far, I pray that this space can be one of retreat and refreshment for you. If this is your very first time on the Inspire Light Blog, Welcome!! I am so happy to have you. Grab your favorite warm drink and curl up for a second.

This space is meant to be one of dialogue. A place where we can come together and discuss God’s goodness and faithfulness, as well as our struggles and hurts with each other. I never want to pretend that once you become a Christian your life suddenly becomes magical and pain never exists. In fact quite the opposite. At Inspire Light, we recognize that darkness does exist in this fallen world. We want to equip and empower you with light, namely the Word of God, to combat and go to war with all of that icky darkness. You can do this! And we want to cheer you on along the way!!

Now for the exciting stuff! Each month on the blog we are going to take one topic, a piece of darkness that the enemy tries to use to take us out, and we are going to shine light on that topic. Whatever the enemy has intended for evil, we will show just how good God can make it when we follow His word. He is the ultimate script flipper! We want to encourage you and empower you to not just get through the day to day, but to live this life well and with purpose! (PS. I love exclamation points, so get ready to see them a lot!!!)

This month, we really wanted to take some time to journey through what the word of God says about our health. I know we’ve all struggled with it at times (and let’s be honest, most of the time.) Our weight, our body image, how we feel in our clothes, how we look in the mirror...these are things we all struggle with in our lives. Even the people you think don’t struggle with it...don’t let them fool you, they do!

More recently however, God has had me on a journey about what health looks like. Not what the number on the scale says, not how my favorite brand of jeans fit, but how is my health doing. Last month I was at a conference where the main question of the week was, “Where do you see yourself when you’re 80?” And the question that formulated in my head was, am I setting myself up to even live to my 80’s? And be living well, with intention and purpose! The visual I had of myself when that question was asked was actual pretty funny so I’ll definitely share that with ya’ll in my next week’s post!!

But truly ya’ll, am I living as my best self with health as a main priority in my life?? For a long time, I could not answer that question with any form of yes. I mean, it was seriously sad. When you’re huffing and puffing after going up one tiny flight of stairs, there are problems for real! It all came to a head for me when I was spending quiet time with God at the end of 2017 and read this,

“Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God?” - 1 Corinthians 6:19 NLT

I knew at that exact moment that God was not just calling me to live a life for Him, but to live a healthy life. One that had concern for the things I was placing into His holy temple every single day. So that’s the journey that I’m on at the moment and one that we want to walk through with all of you, because God has called us to live this life together!

So who is this “we” you might ask?? Well, that’s actually the best part! And something I’m not quite ready to reveal. So head on over to our Facebook page (www.facebook.com/inspirelightcandleco) or our Instagram (www.instagram.com/inspirelightcandleco) on Wednesday, May 2nd at 5:30pm for our LIVE chat, to hear all about the exciting things to come as well as meet our new team member!

Come back to the blog on Thursday when our next health post will be live and every Monday and Thursday moving forward.
